SiMa.ai, a developer of embedded edge machine learning system-on-chip (MLSoC) technology, and Wind River, a provider of software solutions for the intelligent edge, have announced a collaboration to deliver an integrated hardware and software platform for advanced edge AI applications.
The partnership combines SiMa.ai’s MLSoC platform with Wind River’s enterprise-grade Debian derivative, the eLxr project, supported commercially through Wind River’s eLxr Pro. The integrated solution is designed to enable developers to customize and accelerate AI/ML deployments at the edge, offering a balance of open-source flexibility and enterprise-level security and reliability.
Krishna Rangasayee, CEO and founder of SiMa.ai, stated that “Edge AI is the next gold rush, creating significant opportunities across robotics, industrial automation, medical, automotive, and aerospace and defense sectors.” He added that the collaboration with Wind River will deliver an edge AI platform that leads in performance, power efficiency, and usability, addressing a broad range of AI requirements including generative AI.
Avijit Sinha, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Global Business Development at Wind River, highlighted the growing complexity of intelligent edge environments and the importance of AI and software-defined automation. “This collaboration will help drive real-time physical AI forward across diverse applications and industries,” Sinha said.
SiMa.ai’s platform includes Palette™, a unified software development environment that streamlines the creation, building, and deployment of machine learning applications. Wind River’s eLxr Pro builds on the open-source eLxr community distribution by providing commercial support and maintenance, assisting customers in deploying scalable and secure Linux solutions from cloud to edge.
The joint solution will be demonstrated at the Embedded Vision Summit in Santa Clara from May 20 to 22, at SiMa.ai’s booth #603. The demonstration will showcase the combined capabilities of SiMa.ai’s MLSoC and Wind River’s eLxr Pro.
Wind River’s broader intelligent edge portfolio includes real-time operating systems, embedded Linux, enterprise Linux, private cloud platforms, hypervisors, and cloud-native DevOps tools.
